Core Series Features

L-CKE/P Industrial Worm Gear Oil (ISO VG 220 / 320 / 460)
International Equivalents: ISO 12925-1 (CKE), AGMA 9005-E02 (CP)

Our L-CKE/P worm gear oils are formulated with highly refined, high-viscosity-index base oils and a specialized additive package tailored for the unique demands of worm gear drives. The high sliding friction inherent in worm gears requires exceptional lubricity and specific chemical properties to protect the bronze/brass worm wheel.

Key Advantages:

  • Yellow Metal Compatibility: Completely safe for bronze, copper, and brass components. Unlike standard active-sulfur EP gear oils, our formulation will not corrode or pit the soft metal of the worm wheel.
  • Friction Reduction: Provides excellent lubricity to handle severe sliding friction, significantly lowering operating temperatures and maximizing power transmission efficiency.
  • Extreme Pressure (EP) Protection: The "P" grade indicates enhanced load-carrying capacity, maintaining a resilient oil film even under heavy shock loads and low-speed, high-torque conditions.
  • Thermal & Oxidation Stability: Resists thermal degradation and prevents the formation of sludge and deposits, extending the operational life of the fluid and the gearbox.

Applications & Usage Scenarios

  • Industrial Worm Reducers: Ideal for enclosed worm gearboxes operating under moderate to severe conditions, including heavy shock loads and high sliding velocities.
  • Material Handling Equipment: Widely used in the drive systems of conveyors, escalators, hoists, elevators, and heavy winches where worm drives are utilized for their self-locking capabilities.
  • Packaging & Processing Machinery: Suitable for the mechanical drives in paper mills, textile manufacturing, packaging lines, and food processing equipment (in non-food contact zones).
  • Bronze/Steel Interfaces: Highly recommended for any industrial application involving heavy friction between steel and bronze/yellow metal surfaces requiring EP protection.

Precautions & Maintenance Guidelines

  1. Never Mix with Standard EP Gear Oils: Do not top up or mix worm gear oils with standard industrial gear oils (like L-CKD). Standard EP oils often contain active sulfur that will aggressively attack and destroy the bronze worm wheel.
  2. Viscosity Selection: Worm gears typically require higher viscosities to maintain oil film thickness. Ensure you select the correct grade (220, 320, or 460) as strictly specified by the equipment manufacturer (OEM).
  3. Temperature Monitoring: Worm drives naturally operate at higher temperatures due to sliding friction. Ensure the gearbox is well-ventilated and monitor for abnormal heat spikes which indicate overloading or lubricant breakdown.
  4. Flushing Before Replacement: When replacing oxidized oil or changing from a different fluid chemistry (such as switching from a PAG synthetic), drain the gearbox completely while warm and thoroughly flush the system to prevent incompatibility.
